The CPO identifies and secures safe and appropriate work sites for the mission trips of Vision Health International (VHI), and oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of the field program operations. The CPO serves as an ex-officio member of the board and attends all BOD meetings and retreats.
Asked how she came to be a VHI volunteer, this invaluable team member said, “I wouldn’t be here at all if it weren’t for the Nurse Scholarship.” Please support scholarships.
2015 Eye Mission to the Dominican Republic
VHI is announcing a return eye mission to the Dominican Republic in 2015. This trip will provide much needed vision health care to underserved patients in the western region of the DR.
Strabismus surgery can help improve visual acuity. Yet it is not like cataracts where vision is restored. Its stigma can make people think someone with strabismus is less competent.
On Dec. 9, 2014, donations will be accepted through ColoradoGives.org, and 100% of your donation comes to us. VHI will not only benefit directly from your donation but also get a split of the cumulative donations made to all groups on this date.
On March 6, 2014, 240 Union is hosting a day and night of fine dining to benefit Vision Health International.
VHI has conducted one-week field programs in Piura every year since 2005. Piura is a vibrant commercial city in the coastal/desert region of northwestern Peru.

VHI is delighted to be returning Ecuador. This year’s trip will be focusing on developing an ongoing comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology program. We expect to perform 50–60 adult and pediatric surgical procedures. A team will also travel to various schools to screen and evaluate 200–300 students each day.
