VHI Partnered with Artists for World Peace in July of 2017 for the first time. It was a successful program, with a roving eyeglass team and surgery. The surgeries were performed by Dr. Christian Mlundwa at the Kibosho Hospital. Dr. Christian (as he prefers to be called) has been seeing patients at the Kibosho-Umbwe (AFWP) Eye Clinic one day a month and now has two lanes of eye exam equipment and an auto-refractor to use when there.
In the top photo, Wendy Black-Nasta, founder of Artists for World Peace, is pictured with a number of local residents who performed a ceremonial dance when VHI arrived.
Kibosh-Umbwe is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro.
